Hi Dad,

“A mission throws at you the worst – It teaches you the best”

A lot of good happened this week, on both sides of the spectrum.

The gospel comes first, in all things. That is an experience I had this last week. Give something up to do what the Lord has asked you to do and he will bless you. So this may sound a bit petty but it taught me a powerful lesson. This Veterans Day Weekend, Nellis Air Force Base held a huge air show. Anyone who knows a bit about me knows that there is where I wanted to be! So we were thinking of ways to get in and watch it, because missionaries have done it in the past, but as Saturday drew nearer we decided not to try for two reasons. First is because it wasn’t P-day and second is ...

Hi Dad,

A good and busy last week, as always it seems.

Ok, so to first tie up some loose ends. So last week I informed you that my mission would be getting Facebook last Friday. Well for some reason unknown to me it didn’t happen. We were driving around late Thursday afternoon when all of a sudden we get a call. In that call we find out that for some reason our Mission President has decided to wait a little bit longer before we download Facebook. So that will probably be coming in the near future. I’ll keep ya posted.

So this last week Elder Hubbell and I experienced some very disappointing things on our end. And both happened in different ways but with the exact same outcome. So the first is that we go to ...

Hi Dad,

A good and busy last week. We were going going and going. But hey I love it.

So this last week Jennifer was baptized! It was awesome. She wanted a smaller service so that is what she got. Just enough people to fill the program, and her non member parents came too! It was awesome. She asked me to baptize her and that was a great experience. Before we went into the font Elder Hubbell said jokingly that he hoped I was strong enough to pull her back up. She actually started to worry about it. Then as I perform the ordinance I pull her back up out of the water and she exclaims (like one of those shouts of exclamation); “Whoa! You are strong! Good dunk!” I couldnt help but laugh a little. She is an awesome lady a...

Hi Dad,

A good last week and were crazy busy! Going, going, going... Almost every single day had something out of the ordinary happen and just made everything crazy. But we got a lot done.

Both this last week and the past few weeks as well I have had a lot of opportunities to give Baptismal interviews. That is such a special opportunity. While I can't and don't want to go into the specifics this general statement is the same. I see it as such a great opportunity because I get to see the repentance process in action. Talking with these people I can see how far they have come and truly see that they are changing their lives. It is honestly one of my favorite parts of my current calling.

Is the repentance...

Hi Dad,

This week went well, we were busy as always but I loved it.

Elder Hubbell is a great guy and a good missionary. He is from Minnesota, and actually likes heat. Or what he thinks is heat! Haha just kidding. He has a great desire to work and is quickly picking it up; he has only been out 4 weeks in the field. He still has a long way to go, but don't we all? He will be a great missionary and I hope, as his trainer, I can do all I can to help him grow into that missionary.

Wednesday was an interesting day. Elder Hubbell came down with food poisoning and was puking from midnight Tuesday night to 6:30 Wednesday morning. He woke me up in the middle of the night to unclog the toilet for him and was too ...

Hi Dad,

A very busy and very odd week, but a good one. A lot of curve balls were thrown at us this week and a lot is different with me, but I'm excited for the future and am grateful for the past.

So this last week we did a lot of biking and walking. Due to a lot of random trips across the valley to the mission office our miles were all sort of used. So we broke out the bikes and dusted off our walking shoes. It felt good to be back on a bike, even though it was only three weeks since I have been on it. Hitting the pavement felt great!

#VegasStrong - This city has really been rallying around each other after the events of last Sunday. It has been amazing to see. Our Heavenly Father has asked us to serv...

Hi Dad,

It was a great week. Once again super busy but, a ton of fun and a ton of work. It felt especially weird to have preparation day moved from Monday last week to Wednesday, but here I am on a Monday again.

I cannot truly begin to describe just how much we felt the guidance of the Holy Ghost last week. Daily it felt like we were walking a path not determined by us. We found and taught so many people in such a way like I have never before experienced on my mission. There were a couple specific instances where we have one or two set backs and then we show up somewhere and meet someone at a time when we weren't suppose to be there. Direction of the Lord is subtle but distinct. Just as Elder Rasband talked about o...

Hi Dad,

So p-day got switched to Wednesday this week because my district (another Sistrict) was scheduled to go to the temple. So our day got pushed back. But it's good! It will now return to Monday.

A busy first week. We were absolutely slammed. But hey that's what happens when you are double transferred into a three Ward area, training. But I'm loving it. Working in three wards is a bit crazy. We have so much ground to cover.

So this transfer I will be training a new missionary. My new companion is Elder Feifer (sounds like fifer). He is a great guy and already is a good missionary. I am so excited to be his companion. He is from Utah, kind of near Salt Lake. We get along well and he is a cool guy. T...

Hi Dad,

It can be so hard to remember details of what we do, because we do so much. Hey, but that's a good thing.

We all go through times or trials that seem so hard, that seem like they will never have an end. My mind has really been on this focus for some while. There have been a string of experiences in my recent past and my present that have tested me. But it has allowed me to ponder over those things. Humility and patience are two things we all can improve on. And those two things have been a lesson I have been learning and will continue to learn. Our Heavenly Father loves us and is work in our lives to refine and perfect us. Humility is giving up what we may want for the greater blessing and road th...

Hi Dad,

Hello! A good week. We saw a lot of miracles and were super busy!

I would like to start off by saying that we got a lot of rain this week. That was awesome. We were biking around one night more or less soaked. And I could not wipe the huge smile off of my face. The blessings of the Lord are all around us! Big and small.

Sometimes everything falls though. One day this last week we had one super packed day with lessons almost every hour. But before 11 am every single one canceled of fell through! So what did we do! Set up more appointments and meetings! Then all of those fell through. Literally everything fell through. And that's ok. We were able to go out and talk to a lot of cool people who otherwis...

Hi Dad,

This last week was a good one. Some great lessons learned and good experiences occurred.

One experience I had this week that meant a lot to me was just a talk. On Thursday Elder Acosta had the opportunity to go the Temple. I'm glad he was able to go; he hadn't been in a long time. So we found him a ride and a companion and then we had to find me one. That was tricky. We got some stuff pulled up but some things changed around and I needed a companion for a couple more hours than I had covered. Oh no! But thankfully the member who started the morning off with me was able to see it all the way through. It was a great time with him. We went out for lunch and had a really good talk. I have always liked this memb...

Hi Dad,

This last week was a busy one and one that was very full. There are always things to do and lessons to learn.

This last week we had the opportunity to have both Zone Conference and interviews with President Youngblood. That was a full day. We got there at 7:45am and didn't get home until about 6:15pm. It was long but very good. There were great trainings that helped all of us better understand our purpose and how to execute it. What hit me most is that the entirety of the focus was on The Book of Mormon and on Christ. Everything comes back to the keystone and corner stone of our religion. In Zone Conference we were urged and trained on ways to most effectively use the Book of Mormon in teaching. I try to te...

Hi Dad,

This last week was a great one. We were busy, we saw a lot of miracles, and time once again, flew by.

The work in our area is slowly picking up. We are seeing miracle after miracle after miracle, even if they are only small ones. But believe me we are seeing quite a few bigger miracles to. Now it is not void of struggle but many blessing and tender mercies from the lord are everywhere.

One huge miracle for me this last week was the Bateman family. We received a referral almost a week ago and it was for this family and an appointment for Tuesday at 6:30. So we contact them and confirm it and head over there. We had a great lesson with them and another later in the week. And they came to church y...

Hi Dad,

So much happens but it goes so fast!

So a start of a new transfer.  My second here in the Desert Inn Ward. It was a good last few weeks and I'm looking forward to the future and what it holds here. The Ward is good, and there is definitely work to do. It will be a great transfer. The Sistrict is doing awesome to and I'm happy to work with them for another transfer!

So I do have to write about one disturbing story that happened this last week. We walk up to this open garage and start talking with this guy in his late 50s. He was super skinny and bald, and he was majorly hitting on me! Ah! So we walk up and we start talking with him and I notice very inappropriate magnets on his tool box. We...

Hi Dad,

I blinked and I'm writing an email again. But it was a good week, as always.

Once again, as missionaries we do it all the time; we helped someone move into their apartment. And of course... it was on the second floor. It wasn't too bad, but I do have to say that one of my least favorite combinations is stairs, apartment entrances, and couches. But when all is said and done, I enjoy the effort that goes into it. Other than that the move went well. Elder Acosta and I did almost all of the work. Some people just have a hard time working, if you know what I mean. Oh well. After we finished they were very appreciative and are excited to have us come back. We will see where it goes. Never pass up service opportun...

Hi Dad,

Where has the week was gone?! Crazy fast week. But a great one.

We started off the week with a bang! Or I should say a smack. Last Monday night as we left a home we were biking up a busy street and I was riding behind Elder Acosta. He then decides to move up onto the sidewalk. There is driveway approaching, and we are moving quickly. We are riding parallel to the curb when he just tries to go up the driveway to get onto the sidewalk. Well his front tire catches the lip and sends him flying. He hits hard, he flips over his bike, and then his bike flips over into him! Blessings- he walked away with only a small scrape on his palm and a dirty shirt! The lord truly does watch after his servants, and all of his child...

Hi Dad,

This last week, like them all, has come and gone. It was a good week.

This last week we had Zone Conference, my first with President Youngblood. It was a great meeting. Great things were discussed and important things were trained on. A big theme of Zone Conference was action. Specifically 2 Nephi 2:14, "...both things to act and things to be acted upon." It really struck a cord with me. In life we are always surrounded by questions and concerns, problems that will need to be solved. Are we going to act, or are we going to be acted upon? When said it sounds like a simple choice, but when it comes down to it, it is a hard thing to really determine. Choose to act; choose to take control of what you ...

Hi Dad,

A good week but I really don't know what to write about, we do so much it is hard to remember everything it just all meshes together at times.

This last week I had my first interview with my new Mission President, President Youngblood. It was a great interview and one like I haven't really had before. It is already so apparent the difference between President Snow and President Youngblood. Both are great men, but their styles, attitudes and spirit are so different. I am very excited to work with President Youngblood over this next year. This was my first interview where it felt a bit more like a discussion than a real interview. I feel like he was able to come down to a level I needed, so he could truly lift me ...

Hi Dad,

Quite a few events transpired this last week

The 4th of July, Independence Day, was a great day to start off the week! It truly is a great holiday to celebrate an event and a founding of a nation that was critical to the Restoration of the Fullness of the Gospel. The 4th was actually a pretty average day of work for us, nothing really out of the ordinary until the evening rolled around. We, our district, blitzed a park and tried to contact people and families out for the Holiday. It was a good time. I have honestly come to enjoy and love talking with people. We then had a bit of time to watch some fireworks. We were on the very edge of Vegas on a hill that over looks all of Las Vegas (yup my area is again a...

Hi Dad,

Sorry for the long email...

Another Hot week for us down here in Las Vegas, but thankfully it wasn't as hot as last week! A great week!

We had quite a bit going on this last week. We saw many miracles and were able to find and talk with so many amazing people. One of which was Joanie. A home bound lady living in a senior apartment complex in our area. A member who lives in there sent us a text telling us that she was going through a hard time and might need a visit. So we decided to stop by. We ended up having a very good talk with her and she was very appreciative for our visit. She has been going through some stuff with some health problems with her kids and while we were there she called us ...
