Hi Dad,

It can be so hard to remember details of what we do, because we do so much. Hey, but that's a good thing.

We all go through times or trials that seem so hard, that seem like they will never have an end. My mind has really been on this focus for some while. There have been a string of experiences in my recent past and my present that have tested me. But it has allowed me to ponder over those things. Humility and patience are two things we all can improve on. And those two things have been a lesson I have been learning and will continue to learn. Our Heavenly Father loves us and is work in our lives to refine and perfect us. Humility is giving up what we may want for the greater blessing and road th...

Hi Dad,

Hello! A good week. We saw a lot of miracles and were super busy!

I would like to start off by saying that we got a lot of rain this week. That was awesome. We were biking around one night more or less soaked. And I could not wipe the huge smile off of my face. The blessings of the Lord are all around us! Big and small.

Sometimes everything falls though. One day this last week we had one super packed day with lessons almost every hour. But before 11 am every single one canceled of fell through! So what did we do! Set up more appointments and meetings! Then all of those fell through. Literally everything fell through. And that's ok. We were able to go out and talk to a lot of cool people who otherwis...

Hi Dad,

This last week was a good one. Some great lessons learned and good experiences occurred.

One experience I had this week that meant a lot to me was just a talk. On Thursday Elder Acosta had the opportunity to go the Temple. I'm glad he was able to go; he hadn't been in a long time. So we found him a ride and a companion and then we had to find me one. That was tricky. We got some stuff pulled up but some things changed around and I needed a companion for a couple more hours than I had covered. Oh no! But thankfully the member who started the morning off with me was able to see it all the way through. It was a great time with him. We went out for lunch and had a really good talk. I have always liked this memb...

Hi Dad,

This last week was a busy one and one that was very full. There are always things to do and lessons to learn.

This last week we had the opportunity to have both Zone Conference and interviews with President Youngblood. That was a full day. We got there at 7:45am and didn't get home until about 6:15pm. It was long but very good. There were great trainings that helped all of us better understand our purpose and how to execute it. What hit me most is that the entirety of the focus was on The Book of Mormon and on Christ. Everything comes back to the keystone and corner stone of our religion. In Zone Conference we were urged and trained on ways to most effectively use the Book of Mormon in teaching. I try to te...

Hi Dad,

This last week was a great one. We were busy, we saw a lot of miracles, and time once again, flew by.

The work in our area is slowly picking up. We are seeing miracle after miracle after miracle, even if they are only small ones. But believe me we are seeing quite a few bigger miracles to. Now it is not void of struggle but many blessing and tender mercies from the lord are everywhere.

One huge miracle for me this last week was the Bateman family. We received a referral almost a week ago and it was for this family and an appointment for Tuesday at 6:30. So we contact them and confirm it and head over there. We had a great lesson with them and another later in the week. And they came to church y...

Hi Dad,

So much happens but it goes so fast!

So a start of a new transfer.  My second here in the Desert Inn Ward. It was a good last few weeks and I'm looking forward to the future and what it holds here. The Ward is good, and there is definitely work to do. It will be a great transfer. The Sistrict is doing awesome to and I'm happy to work with them for another transfer!

So I do have to write about one disturbing story that happened this last week. We walk up to this open garage and start talking with this guy in his late 50s. He was super skinny and bald, and he was majorly hitting on me! Ah! So we walk up and we start talking with him and I notice very inappropriate magnets on his tool box. We...

Hi Dad,

I blinked and I'm writing an email again. But it was a good week, as always.

Once again, as missionaries we do it all the time; we helped someone move into their apartment. And of course... it was on the second floor. It wasn't too bad, but I do have to say that one of my least favorite combinations is stairs, apartment entrances, and couches. But when all is said and done, I enjoy the effort that goes into it. Other than that the move went well. Elder Acosta and I did almost all of the work. Some people just have a hard time working, if you know what I mean. Oh well. After we finished they were very appreciative and are excited to have us come back. We will see where it goes. Never pass up service opportun...

Hi Dad,

Where has the week was gone?! Crazy fast week. But a great one.

We started off the week with a bang! Or I should say a smack. Last Monday night as we left a home we were biking up a busy street and I was riding behind Elder Acosta. He then decides to move up onto the sidewalk. There is driveway approaching, and we are moving quickly. We are riding parallel to the curb when he just tries to go up the driveway to get onto the sidewalk. Well his front tire catches the lip and sends him flying. He hits hard, he flips over his bike, and then his bike flips over into him! Blessings- he walked away with only a small scrape on his palm and a dirty shirt! The lord truly does watch after his servants, and all of his child...

Hi Dad,

This last week, like them all, has come and gone. It was a good week.

This last week we had Zone Conference, my first with President Youngblood. It was a great meeting. Great things were discussed and important things were trained on. A big theme of Zone Conference was action. Specifically 2 Nephi 2:14, "...both things to act and things to be acted upon." It really struck a cord with me. In life we are always surrounded by questions and concerns, problems that will need to be solved. Are we going to act, or are we going to be acted upon? When said it sounds like a simple choice, but when it comes down to it, it is a hard thing to really determine. Choose to act; choose to take control of what you ...

Hi Dad,

A good week but I really don't know what to write about, we do so much it is hard to remember everything it just all meshes together at times.

This last week I had my first interview with my new Mission President, President Youngblood. It was a great interview and one like I haven't really had before. It is already so apparent the difference between President Snow and President Youngblood. Both are great men, but their styles, attitudes and spirit are so different. I am very excited to work with President Youngblood over this next year. This was my first interview where it felt a bit more like a discussion than a real interview. I feel like he was able to come down to a level I needed, so he could truly lift me ...

Hi Dad,

Quite a few events transpired this last week

The 4th of July, Independence Day, was a great day to start off the week! It truly is a great holiday to celebrate an event and a founding of a nation that was critical to the Restoration of the Fullness of the Gospel. The 4th was actually a pretty average day of work for us, nothing really out of the ordinary until the evening rolled around. We, our district, blitzed a park and tried to contact people and families out for the Holiday. It was a good time. I have honestly come to enjoy and love talking with people. We then had a bit of time to watch some fireworks. We were on the very edge of Vegas on a hill that over looks all of Las Vegas (yup my area is again a...

Hi Dad,

Sorry for the long email...

Another Hot week for us down here in Las Vegas, but thankfully it wasn't as hot as last week! A great week!

We had quite a bit going on this last week. We saw many miracles and were able to find and talk with so many amazing people. One of which was Joanie. A home bound lady living in a senior apartment complex in our area. A member who lives in there sent us a text telling us that she was going through a hard time and might need a visit. So we decided to stop by. We ended up having a very good talk with her and she was very appreciative for our visit. She has been going through some stuff with some health problems with her kids and while we were there she called us ...

Hi Dad,

Elder... We're not in Henderson anymore!

Well its official I'm no longer in my small corner of Henderson anymore. I am really going to miss that place. When I went there I was disappointed and even angry to be sent there but now I miss the area and especially the people so much! That place and those people will always have a special place in my heart. I loved being in Laurel and McCullough Hills! As I said in my last letter I am now in the Nevada Las Vegas East Stake, serving in the Desert Inn Ward. My new companion is Elder Acosta, he is from Hawaii and has been out for just barely under 10 months. He is a good guy. I'm excited to be here. The area is great and has so much potential!

Hi Dad,

I'm coming out of the closet! After 9 and a half hard weeks of struggle I am finally out of the closet. I feel far freer and not confined! It is a great feeling. I wouldn't have been able to do if it weren't for the people who are around me. This trial in my life has now finally come to an end! No more sleeping in the closet! I will now finally be able to sleep in a room on an actual bed not just a mattress on the ground.

This was a good last week, my final here in this area though, so that was sad. We found out on Saturday that Elder Van Slyke (the third member of our trio) will be staying here and I will be transferred out and Elder Loutz is going home.  I am really going to miss Elder Loutzenhi...

Hi Dad,

I don't even know what happened this last week. The end of the week was just crazy. But nevertheless I enjoyed the week.

The beginning of the week was pretty tame and standard but once we hit Wednesday a lot happened.

Wednesday Elder Loutz and I went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders. We were both just kind of indifferent about the exchange, but afterward and looking back it was one that I really enjoyed. We talked a lot about improvement, both how we can personally, and how we can help those around us improve also. Elder Cook was the Elder I was with, and he is a great guy and a great missionary.

Following the exchange we had our District Council and it was centered on the Atonem...

Hi Dad,

Another week gone and along comes a new one.  Oh yeah!

We got to start off this last week with Zone Conference, my last with President Snow. That is so weird for me to think that he will no longer be my mission president. When I came into the mission I though the day would never actually come of seeing him leave and now I've seen my last of him. Weird! Crazy for me to think about, but Zone Conference was still really good. My Favorite part was departing testimonies. When missionaries are going home they give their final testimony at their last Zone Conference, so I got to hear two of my companions give their last testimony. Elder DeMott one of my last companions and Elder Loutzenhiser my current compan...

Hi Dad,

Time made no sense this week at all... none... (I say that a lot, don't I?) Oh well the work goes on!

This week started off with Transfers but like I said last week that didn't matter, because Elder Loutz and I are staying together! These 6 square blocks are ours for another four weeks!

On Wednesday, we had exchanges with our ZLs. Elder Loutz stayed here and I went to the ZLs area. It was a good exchange and we all got some good work done. At one point the ZL I was with tried to tell me his area was small... I just laughed and said no it's not (it was quite larger than ours and I'm ok with that). And we also rescued an English Mastiff and a wiener dog!

The next day we ex...

Hi Dad,

I think I have said this before but, time makes no sense on a mission. None at all. Oh well!

A good last week I would say. Our area is doing good and we are seeing both progression as well as rejection. Those two things make the day feel like an emotional, spiritual and yes even a physical roller coaster. But yet we love it.

This last week we were blessed to be able to work, or should I say talk with and build relationships with a few youths in the ward who are going through some hard times. The opportunity to help any person is something I'm very glad my mission has taught me. Service in any form is helpful in some way, even if we can't see it. By serving others we greater understand and feel the lo...

Hi Dad,

It happened! We broke into triple digit temperatures this week! Let crazy heat begin! But despite the ominous temperatures that now looms over us, it was still a good week.

This week also held other big days that really don't mean anything!

1.  May fourth - May the fourth be with you

2.  Cinco de Mayo (I probably spelt that wrong)

3.  My 10-month mark

The week started off with an exchange with our district leader and his companion. Elder Loutz and our DL Elder Bissett were in our area while I was with Elder Beaumont in their area. Overall, I'm not the biggest exchange fan but this one ended up being pretty good. Elder Beaumont and I got some great work done. We ...
